  London

I will tell you something about the sights of London.

Trafalgar Square: Is a famous place in the middle of London. There is Lord Nelson`s column who defeated Napoleon in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Round the statue which is 56 metres high, there are hundreds of pigeons.

St. Paul`s Cathedral: It is the second largest church of the world. In the dome is the famous Whispering Gallery. If you turn your face to the wall and you whisper a word somebody can hear it on the other side. Beside the dome are two towers. In one of them is the heaviest clock of England. It has a weight of 17 tons.

Soho: It is a part of London where you can find a lot of bars, tea shops and restaurants. There you can choose between Chinese and Vietnamise food because in Soho is a small Chinatown. But you also can eat Italian and French food.

London is famous for its theatres. Most of them are in West End near Piccadilly Circus. If you are interested in theatres you will certainly find a play or a musical which you will like. When I was in London I saw a theatre which played " The Trap " ( die Mausefalle ). This is a detective story by Agatha Christie. It was first played 42 years ago and it is still played.

Tower of London: When the White Tower (the oldest part of the whole tower) was built in 1078, it was a dungeon. Kings and Queens were killed in the White Tower. At the same time it was a residence for english Kings and Queens too. But it is not only a bloody place because there you can see the Crown Jewels. On the Imperial Indian Crown are 6000 diamonds and some other very expansive stones. And on Queen Elizabeth`s Crown is the world`s most precious diamond. It has 108 carat. The guides of the tower are called "Beefeaters". They told me a mystery story about the eight ravens, which live there. The story says that the ravens must be there because when there are no ravens, the monarchy will not exist any more.
