Wie verlor Sauron den Ring?

Sauron was killed by the Last Alliance. Isildur cut the Ring from Sauron's finger. He should have destroyed it, but he didn't. Some time later, while (IIRC) he was on his way to Arnor, he and his party were waylaid by Orcs. Isildur put the Ring on and tried to swim away in the Anduin, but the Ring slipped off his hand. Orcs saw him and he was killed. The Ring was now on the riverbed, and some time later would be found by Deagol.

Ist Gandalf ein Ainur?

[1] The Valar and Maiar collectively are the Ainur. Gandalf (and Sauron) were Maiar.

[2] Gandalf was a Maia, a lesser order of the Ainur than the Valar. Gandalf was most certainly present at the Music, as was Sauron, Saruman, Radagast and the Balrog that took up residence in Moria.
