19 Denn was man von Gott erkennen kann, ist unter ihnen offenbar; Gott hat es ihnen offenbart. 20 Denn Gottes unsichtbares Wesen, das ist seine ewige Kraft und Gottheit, wird ersehen seit der Schöpfung der Welt und wahrgenommen an seinen Werken, daß sie keine Entschuldigung haben.

Ich finde, dass diese Bibelstelle eine der interessantesten ist. In der vordergründigen Absicht, den Heiden vorzuhalten, dass sie sich in Bezug auf ihre Gottlosigkeit nicht auf ihre Unwissenheit berufen können, sagt immerhin Paulus ausdrücklich:

• "Was man von Gott überhaupt erkennen kann, ist unter ihnen offenbar" (ohne Bibel und ohne Verkündigung).
• "Denn Gottes unsichtbares Wesen ... wird ersehen seit der Schöpfung der Welt und wahrgenommen an seinen Werken" (die Natur ist ein gültige Quelle der Erkenntnis über Gott)

Übersetzungen unterschieden sich oft sehr, deswegen zitiere ich hier einige Varianten dieser Bibelstelle.

19 Dabei wissen sie ganz genau, daß es Gott gibt, er selbst hat ihnen dieses Wissen gegeben.
20 Gott ist zwar unsichtbar, doch an seinen Werken, der Schöpfung, haben die Menschen seit jeher seine göttliche Macht und Größe sehen und erfahren können. Deshalb kann sich niemand damit entschuldigen, daß er von Gott nichts gewußt hat.
