The OperatingSystem is the primary software that runs on a computer when it is turned on.
The OperatingSystem:
- starts and controlls all other programs (e. g. a game, text processing software or database)
- it controlls all internal devices (like a hard disk or a "firewire" interface)
- it controlls all external peripheral devices (like printers, scanners or the mouse)
